Heart of Living Praise Chapel Demonstrates Christian Love to Widows

Heart of Living Praise Chapel, a fast-growing church located at Afrancho in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region, has demonstrated the true essence of Christian charity by donating assorted items, including clothes, bags of rice, and tins of sardines, to 53 widows in the community.

The benevolent act, which took place at the church’s auditorium recently, formed part of the church’s annual outreach programme aimed at supporting the less privileged, especially widows and orphans. The event, filled with songs of praise and thanksgiving, saw several women visibly moved by the church’s act of compassion.

Out of the 53 widows, 43 received clothes in addition to rice and sardines, while all the beneficiaries took home bags of rice, tins of sardines, and an undisclosed amount of money to cater for transportation and other personal needs.

Speaking during the presentation, the Founder and Leader of the church, Apostle Emmanuel Ofori Akabaya, said the gesture was inspired by the biblical instruction in James 1:27, which reads, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this: To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unspotted from the world.”

He explained that as Christians, it is not enough to preach the gospel without extending a helping hand to the needy, especially those in distress.

“The gospel instructs us as believers to give back to the less privileged. It is a commandment from our Lord Jesus Christ to care for those who are struggling. This is our way of living that out,” he said.

Apostle Akabaya further revealed that this was the third time the church had undertaken such a humanitarian activity since its establishment three years ago. He noted that the donations were made possible through voluntary contributions by the members of the church, who he commended for their generosity and commitment to kingdom work.

He also encouraged other churches and individuals to make deliberate efforts to support widows and orphans in their communities, adding that true religion is shown through compassion and service to humanity.

Some of the widows who benefited from the donation could not hide their joy. They expressed profound gratitude to Apostle Akabaya and his congregation for remembering them in their time of need.

One of the beneficiaries, who gave her name only as Afia, said, “Although we do not worship at Heart of Living Praise Chapel, the pastor did not discriminate in sharing the items. He gave freely to everyone who came, regardless of our religious background.”

Another beneficiary described the gesture as a “miracle of love,” explaining that it came at a time when many of them were struggling to provide for their families.

The exercise ended with a prayer session and words of encouragement to the widows, reminding them that God has not forgotten them and that their joy would be restored in due time.

Heart of Living Praise Chapel continues to position itself not just as a place of worship but as a beacon of hope for the underprivileged in the Afigya Kwabre South District and beyond.
