VIDEOS: Military Helicopter GFA Z9 Crashes at Adansi Brofoyedru – Six Reported Dead
A military helicopter identified as GFA Z9, carrying eight people — five passengers and three crew members — has crashed near Adansi Brofoyedru in the Ashanti Region.
The tragic accident occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, August 6, 2025, while the helicopter was en route to Obuasi for a national programme. So far, six people have been confirmed dead in the crash, although the identities of the victims have not yet been officially released.
Eyewitnesses at the scene say emergency teams responded swiftly, but the wreckage was severe, and rescue operations remain ongoing.
Unconfirmed reports suggest that top-ranking members of the ruling government were among those on board. However, military and government officials are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
The report was first carried by Accra-based Peace FM, which cited sources close to the scene of the crash and confirmed the fatalities.
Security has been tightened around the crash site as investigations are launched into the cause of the accident.
