Multi-Vehicle Collision Leaves Motorcyclist In Coma, Others Hospitalised

A horrific multi-vehicle collision at Adabraka near Old Tafo in the Ashanti Region has left a motorcyclist in a coma and several other people hospitalised after a Toyota V8 driver reportedly mistook the accelerator for the brake.
The crash involved the Toyota V8, an oncoming motorcycle, a commercial tricycle (Pragia), and two parked vehicles displayed for sale, causing heavy traffic congestion along the busy stretch.
According to eyewitnesses, the V8 was travelling from Atimatim Junction towards Mamponteng when it collided with the oncoming motorcycle. In the ensuing panic, the driver allegedly stepped on the accelerator instead of the brake, causing the vehicle to surge forward and run over the motorcyclist.
Eyewitness Mohammed Nurudeen said the vehicle subsequently rammed into a commercial tricycle carrying passengers before veering across the road and crashing into two unoccupied vehicles parked for sale. The vehicle eventually came to a halt after smashing into a sturdy metal signpost.
Another eyewitness, Kofi, disclosed that some of the driver’s children, who were passengers in the V8, also sustained injuries during the crash.
The motorcyclist is currently in a coma and is reported to have suffered multiple fractures, while the other injured victims have been rushed to hospital for treatment.
The motorcycle was destroyed beyond repair, with shattered glass and debris strewn across the road.
Police officers have since arrived at the scene to clear the wreckage, restore the free flow of traffic and commence investigations into the cause of the accident.
