Two Killed As Fuel Tanker Explodes At Adubinsu

Two persons have been confirmed dead after a fuel tanker crashed and burst into flames at Adubinsu in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region.
The tragic incident occurred around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 4, 2026, when the tanker, which was travelling from Edwenase towards Adubinsu, reportedly lost control, overturned and exploded.
An eyewitness, Faustina Pokuaa, told SWIFTNEWS3 that the driver was believed to have lost control of the vehicle after its braking system failed.
According to her, the tanker somersaulted before bursting into flames, sparking a massive fire that quickly spread to nearby properties.
The inferno destroyed six container shops and a residential building, leaving property owners counting their losses.
The driver and his mate sustained critical injuries in the accident. The mate was rushed to the Tafo Government Hospital for treatment but was later pronounced dead. The driver also succumbed to his injuries.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service and the Ghana Police Service responded swiftly to the emergency, bringing the blaze under control and securing the area.
The identities of the deceased have not yet been released, while police have launched investigations to establish the exact cause of the accident.
The incident has left residents of Adubinsu in shock, with many calling for stricter safety measures for fuel tanker operations on major roads.
