Rainstorm Destroys Bridge, Cuts Off Ejura-Mampong Road

A heavy rainstorm has destroyed a section of the Sataso road in the Ashanti Region, cutting off a major transport link between Ejura, Mampong and Kumasi after a bridge on the route collapsed.
The incident has left several passengers and vehicles stranded, particularly commuters travelling from Ejura, Yeji, Atebubu and Prang towards Mampong and Kumasi.
The collapsed bridge has disrupted movement along one of the key corridors linking the northern part of the Ashanti Region to its central and southern sectors.
Drivers and transport operators were unable to continue their journeys as travellers remained stranded on both sides of the damaged bridge, with no immediate alternative route available.
Some passengers who spoke to Atinka News expressed concern over the situation and appealed to authorities to urgently intervene to restore transportation on the stretch.
Speaking on the development, the Municipal Chief Executive for Mampong, Hon. Yakubu Yussif, disclosed that the Assembly would create an emergency route to ease movement for commuters affected by the disaster.
He indicated that authorities were assessing the extent of the damage while plans were underway to address the situation.
