GWL Fixes Anloga Pipe Burst Overnight

The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) in the Ashanti Region has successfully repaired a major pipe burst at Anloga Junction after an overnight operation.
The burst, which occurred at the busy intersection, prompted swift action from engineers drawn from GWL’s Ashanti South and North regions. They worked in collaboration with the Department of Urban Roads in Ashanti and received support from the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) at Oforikrom.
Repair works began around 9:00 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, and continued into the early hours of Tuesday as the team worked to detect and fix the fault to restore normal water flow.
Officials explained that the decision to carry out the exercise at night was strategic, considering the heavy traffic flow at the location. This ensured smooth traffic management and reduced inconvenience to road users.
GWL commended the Department of Urban Roads and the MTTD for their effective coordination and support, which contributed significantly to the success of the operation.
The company indicated that despite the incident, water supply to some affected communities, including Oforikrom, parts of Anloga Town and Bomso, was sustained through alternative arrangements.
GWL reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring reliable water supply through efficient production, transmission and distribution, while improving customer service delivery across the Ashanti Region.
