Residents Cry Over Classroom Shortage

Residents of Ohwimase in the Bosome Freho District of the Ashanti Region have appealed to the government and the District Assembly to provide additional classroom blocks for the community’s only basic school, following a shortage of adequate learning facilities.

The situation has compelled the community to construct makeshift wooden structures to accommodate some of the pupils, as the existing classrooms are unable to contain the growing school population.

According to the residents, the few classrooms currently available were constructed through communal labour, with community members contributing their efforts to provide educational facilities for their children.

However, the facilities have become inadequate, forcing the community to resort to wooden structures to provide additional space for teaching and learning.

The residents have expressed concern over the situation and called on the relevant authorities to urgently address the challenge to ensure that pupils have access to a safe and conducive learning environment.

Mr. Akwasi, Assistant Secretary of the Unit Committee for the Gyimakyi Anwiaso Electoral Area, has also appealed to the Bosome Freho District Assembly to intervene and help resolve the problem.

He urged the Assembly to prioritise the provision of additional classrooms to ease overcrowding and improve teaching and learning at the school.

The residents are hopeful that the government and the District Assembly will respond to their appeal and provide the necessary infrastructure to support education in the community.
