Liberal Party Slams Ashanti Regional Minister Over Performance

The Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG) has strongly criticised the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene, accusing him of failing to deliver meaningful development and improve healthcare infrastructure in the region after nearly two years in office.
In a press statement issued on June 17, 2026, and signed by the party’s General Secretary, Jerry Owusu Appauh, the LPG expressed disappointment over what it described as the Minister’s poor performance and lack of visible achievements.

According to the party, many residents of the Ashanti Region believe there is little to show for the Minister’s leadership despite the time he has spent in office.
The statement noted that the Minister’s background as a medical doctor should have placed him in a better position to prioritise healthcare delivery and ensure the completion and operationalisation of health facilities across the region.
The LPG further alleged that several health projects, including facilities initiated under the government’s Agenda 111 programme, remain stalled or delayed, denying many communities access to quality healthcare services.
The party argued that unfinished public infrastructure projects risk deteriorating if left unused for extended periods, adding that residents continue to face challenges in accessing healthcare.
According to the statement, the Ashanti Region deserves leadership focused on results, accountability and development. The party maintained that citizens are expecting improved infrastructure, functioning hospitals and tangible progress that can positively impact their daily lives.
The LPG also took a swipe at Dr. Frank Amoakohene r, claiming that his most visible activities in office have been social media engagements and beautification projects rather than substantial developmental achievements.
The party stressed that its concerns were not politically motivated but rather centred on the welfare of the people of the Ashanti Region. It called on the Minister to demonstrate greater commitment to addressing the developmental needs of the region and improving the living conditions of residents.
The statement concluded by urging leaders entrusted with the development of the Ashanti Region to be more responsive to the expectations of the people and deliver on their mandates.
