Bawumia Expresses Gratitude After Being Declared Winner of NPP Presidential Primary
New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to his campaign team and party stakeholders after he was officially declared the winner of the party’s presidential primary.
Speaking at his Accra office shortly after the declaration on Saturday, January 31, Dr. Bawumia described the contest as a hard-fought nationwide campaign and attributed his victory to the dedication and sacrifice of his supporters across the country.
He paid glowing tribute to his campaign leadership, commending National Campaign Coordinator, Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu, Campaign Manager, Fred Opare Ansah, and Members of Parliament who stood firmly behind his candidature throughout the process.
Dr. Bawumia also thanked the leadership of the NPP, the Electoral Commission, security agencies and the media for their respective roles in ensuring a peaceful, transparent and credible election.
Reflecting on the party’s journey, the former Vice President acknowledged the foundational work of leading figures of the NPP, including Prof. Adu Boahen, former President J.A. Kufuor and President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, noting that their sacrifices had positioned the party for continued progress.
He described his election as flagbearer as a humbling honour and pledged to build on the legacy of the party’s past leaders as he leads the NPP into the next phase of its political journey.
Dr. Bawumia emerged winner after securing a decisive majority of votes from delegates nationwide, officially clinching the party’s mandate to lead it into the next general elections.
