HEPA Plus Founder Honoured by KNUST for Championing Herbal Research and Innovation
The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has honoured Mr. Ebenezer Agyemang, founder of HEPA Plus , for his remarkable contribution to research, innovation, and entrepreneurship in herbal medicine.
The honour, presented by the Department of Herbal Medicine under the Faculty of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, was in recognition of Mr. Agyemang’s unwavering commitment to advancing the frontiers of herbal medicine education and practice in Ghana.
In response to the department’s call for support, Mr. Agyemang established the HEPA Plus Research Awards, an annual sponsorship initiative aimed at funding innovative undergraduate research projects that encourage creativity and entrepreneurial thinking among final-year students.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Prof. Samuel Asare Nkansa, Dean of the Faculty, commended Mr. Agyemang for his visionary leadership and practical efforts in bridging academia and industry through innovation.
He revealed that the first beneficiary of the HEPA Plus Research Award went on to win the University Entrepreneurial Product Competition and later represented KNUST at an international competition in Thailand — a feat he described as “a testament to the power of industry-academia collaboration.”
“Mr. Agyemang’s contribution is more than financial support—it is an investment in the future of herbal medicine research in Ghana,” Prof. Nkansa stated, noting that his gesture had motivated students to pursue innovation-driven projects with real-world impact.
In his remarks, Mr. Agyemang expressed gratitude to KNUST for the recognition and pledged to continue supporting herbal research and entrepreneurship. He noted that his company’s vision is to help position Ghana as a global leader in herbal medicine production and research.
The event was attended by faculty members, students, and industry stakeholders who lauded the HEPA Plus founder for his generosity, vision, and commitment to nurturing the next generation of herbal medicine innovators.
