Following an intense manhunt ordered by the Regional Commander, ACP Joseph Hammond Nyaaba, police personnel tracked and apprehended the suspect.

The incident, which occurred on October 14, 2025, saw the suspect allegedly fire multiple gunshots at the Kwabenakwa lorry station, leaving six people wounded. Police reports indicate that all the victims received medical treatment, with most discharged the same day. However, Karatina and her baby were referred to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi for further care due to the severity of their injuries.

The suspect, Joseph Antwi, was arraigned before the Obuasi Magistrate Court on October 21, 2025, on a preliminary charge of causing harm, contrary to Section 69 of the Criminal and Other Offences Act (Act 29/60).
