Chief Details How Assembly Member Was Shot Dead by Soldiers at Manso Aboabo

The Chief of Manso Tetrem in the Amansie West District, Nana Akwasi Koh, has recounted how the Assembly Member for Manso Aboabo, Hon. Samson Dankwa, was allegedly shot dead by armed military personnel in broad daylight on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
According to the Chief, the late Assembly Member was unarmed and had been called to calm a group of agitated youth who were threatening to block vehicles of Asanko Mines from passing through the community.
“When I saw the agitated youth, I anticipated chaos, so I called the Assembly Member to help speak to them and water down the case. Unfortunately, he was shot dead despite having no weapon or anything that could have threatened the soldiers,” Nana Koh narrated.
The youth’s protest followed the death of a 50-year-old miner, who was reportedly chased by security officers of the mining company and fell into a pit, leading to his death.
Residents accuse Asanko Mines’ security personnel of harassing and intimidating locals, making life unbearable in the community. The killing of the Assembly Member has deepened anger, with youth demanding justice and an end to the alleged brutalities.
The Chief has appealed to authorities in the region to urgently step in and address the situation to prevent further bloodshed.
Meanwhile the body of the deceased has since been deposited at the Afari Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.
