Obuasi MCE Mourns Mother, One-Week Observation Scheduled for August 2

Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, is mourning the passing of her beloved mother, Madam Lucy Yaa Amankwah, who died on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

In a statement issued by the Office of the MCE, the family announced that the one-week observation of the late Madam Amankwah will be held on Saturday, August 2, 2025, at the AGA School Park in Obuasi.

The ceremony is expected to draw high-profile dignitaries, including senior members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) from the Ashanti Region and other parts of the country. Notably, members from other political parties — especially the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the main opposition — are also expected to grace the occasion in a show of unity and respect.

Party faithful, friends, and sympathizers from all walks of life are anticipated to attend the event to offer their condolences and support to the MCE and her family.

Madam Yaa Amankwah, described by family and friends as a pillar of strength and compassion, was known for her humility and deep ties to the Obuasi community. Her passing has left a significant void in the hearts of many who knew her.

Further details regarding the final funeral rites will be communicated in due course. Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kanin has expressed heartfelt gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from colleagues, friends, political figures, and residents of Obuasi during this difficult time.
