Police Deploy MTTD, Towing Trucks For NPP Conference

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has deployed personnel of the Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) and towing trucks as part of measures to manage traffic and ensure security during the New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Delegates Conference and Elections at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
The Police have also announced the temporary closure of selected roads around the stadium and warned motorists against unauthorised parking or attempts to drive through designated roadblocks.
The affected roads include the stretch from Bridginia Traffic Lights to Carvery Methodist Church, Unity Oil Fuel Station to T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School, and Is My Kitchen Restaurant to Bridginia Traffic Lights.
The Command said MTTD personnel would be stationed at strategic locations to direct motorists and enforce the traffic management arrangements.
Towing trucks would also be positioned at designated points to remove wrongly parked or abandoned vehicles and convey them to the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) Yard at the owners’ cost.
Traffic Diversions
Under the temporary traffic arrangements, commercial vehicles from Amakom will proceed straight towards Asokwa, while vehicles from Asafo will be diverted at Bridginia Traffic Lights towards Asokwa or Amakom Traffic Lights.
Commercial vehicles from LLL heading towards T.I. Ahmadiyya Senior High School will proceed straight to Amakom Traffic Lights.
Vehicles travelling from Kumasi City Mall towards Afful Nkwanta Junction will be diverted through Bulldog Restaurant, while traffic from Afful Nkwanta will proceed straight towards Kumasi City Mall.
Parking Arrangements
The Police said the parking arrangements had been agreed upon in consultation with the NPP Elections Committee.

Members of Parliament, former MPs, MMDCEs and CEOs will park at the Scoreboard Parking Area.
Regional delegates arriving by bus and National Party Executives will use Heroes Park, while official Police vehicles will park at the Hockey Pitch.
The Command stressed that all delegates and vehicles attending the event must be duly accredited.
Only accredited delegates and vehicles will be allowed access to the designated areas and parking facilities, with motorists required to prominently display their accreditation.
The Police have urged motorists, delegates, party supporters and the general public to plan their journeys in advance, use designated alternative routes and avoid unauthorised parking around the stadium.
The Command further warned that unauthorised access, parking or obstruction of designated routes would not be permitted.
It appealed to the public to cooperate with Police personnel to ensure safe and orderly traffic movement and the peaceful conduct of the NPP National Delegates Conference and Elections.
The statement was signed by Superintendent Godwin Ahianyo, Head of the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit.
