Several Families Displaced as Fire Ravages Nkawie House

Several families have been displaced after a devastating fire ravaged a 30-bedroom house at Nkawie in the Ashanti Region, destroying property worth thousands of cedis.
The incident occurred at about 10:30 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, when the fire broke out and spread rapidly through the building, leaving occupants with little time to salvage their belongings.
Firefighters from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) stations at Nkawie and Komfo Anokye responded swiftly to the distress call and managed to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to nearby buildings.
Although no casualties were recorded, the victims lost clothing, household items, important documents and other valuables in the inferno.
The cause of the fire is yet to be established. Officials of the Ghana National Fire Service have launched investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The affected families have appealed for assistance from the public and benevolent organisations as they begin the difficult task of rebuilding their lives.
