Two Killed, Several Injured In Fatal Kwahu Highway Crash

Two people have been confirmed dead, while several others are receiving treatment after a fatal road accident on the Fodoa–Nadieso stretch of the Kumasi Highway in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.
The tragic accident occurred in the early hours of Thursday when a cargo vehicle reportedly developed a mechanical fault and collided with a long truck transporting bottled water.
According to the Nkawkaw Municipal Fire Commander, Divisional Officer Grade Two (DO II) Samuel Mante, the cargo vehicle, with registration number GW 644-N, crashed into the truck, which bears registration number ER 101-12.
The impact of the collision claimed the lives of two occupants at the scene, while several other passengers sustained varying degrees of injuries. The injured were rescued and rushed to the Holy Family Hospital in Nkawkaw, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service, together with other emergency and security agencies, responded promptly to the scene to rescue trapped victims and clear the road to restore the smooth flow of traffic.
Following the incident, DO II Samuel Mante urged motorists to strictly observe road safety measures, particularly during vehicle breakdowns. He advised drivers to immediately place warning triangles at the appropriate distance behind disabled vehicles to alert approaching motorists and help prevent similar accidents.
He further appealed to vehicle owners and drivers to ensure regular maintenance of their vehicles and remain vigilant at all times to help reduce road crashes.
