Three Killed, 15 Injured In Fatal Juaso Highway Crash

Three people have been killed and 15 others injured in a fatal road crash at Juaso Three-Lane near NEXT BON Gas on the Kumasi-Accra Highway in the Ashanti Region.

The accident occurred on Monday, July 13, 2026, at about 9:39 a.m., involving a Shackman F3000 truck, with registration number GN 9673-25, loaded with clinker, and a Dongfeng van bearing registration number GM 4002-26.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the truck was being driven by Stephen Amankwah, while the Dongfeng van was driven by Nyame Ebenezer.

The GNFS said a total of 18 people were involved in the collision. Three victims—two men and one woman—were pronounced dead at the scene, while the remaining 15 sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Firefighters from the Konongo-Odumase and Juaso Fire Stations responded to the emergency and recovered the bodies of the deceased, which were subsequently handed over to the Juaso Police Command for preservation and further investigation.

The Service noted that before the arrival of the rescue team, members of the public had already rescued the two drivers and 13 injured passengers and transported them to the Juaso Government Hospital for treatment.

The GNFS further disclosed that the Shackman truck sustained partial damage to its front cowl, while the Dongfeng van suffered extensive damage, with its windscreen and engine compartment completely destroyed.

Police have commenced investigations to establish the cause of the crash.

The Ghana National Fire Service has urged motorists to strictly observe road safety regulations and exercise extra caution, particularly on highways used by heavy-duty vehicles, to help reduce road traffic accidents.
