Fire Outbreak Leaves 14 Homeless, Destroys Property

Fourteen persons have been rendered homeless following a fire outbreak that destroyed a five-bedroom house at Maase in the Afigya Kwabre South District of the Ashanti Region.

The incident, which occurred on Friday, March 20, 2026, led to the destruction of property worth hundreds of Ghana cedis. One of the tenants reportedly lost belongings valued at millions of cedis in the blaze.

Victims of the inferno told journalists that they are yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, but suspect erratic power supply may have triggered the incident.

No casualties were recorded.

Some of the displaced residents have appealed to benevolent individuals and organisations to come to their aid, saying they have lost everything.

“We have lost everything; not even our clothes were spared. We are pleading with the public to support us,” they said.

Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) responded to the scene, but the building had already been completely destroyed.

Investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
