Massive Police Deployment for Asantehemaa’s One-Week Celebration

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has rolled out a heavy security operation ahead of the one-week observation of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, sister of Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
About 500 police officers have been deployed to Kumasi and its surrounding areas to ensure peace and safety throughout the period. The exercise is part of measures to control the expected huge crowd of mourners and dignitaries who will gather at the Manhyia Palace.
Head of Public Affairs at the Command, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, explained that the officers will be stationed at vantage points to manage traffic, maintain law and order, and respond promptly to emergencies. He added that other sister security agencies will also be supporting the police to create a safe environment.
“This is a significant cultural event that will attract both local and international mourners. We have put in place adequate measures to safeguard lives and property. The cooperation of the public will be crucial to the success of our operation,” DSP Ahianyo stated.
The police have appealed to residents and visitors to follow instructions from security personnel during the period, stressing that compliance will ensure a peaceful and dignified commemoration.
The one-week observance of Nana Konadu Yiadom III is expected to bring together chiefs, queen mothers, government officials, and mourners from across Ghana and beyond to pay tribute to the memory of the Asantehemaa.
The Command has assured that it is fully prepared to prevent any disturbances and maintain a serene atmosphere throughout the solemn occasion.
