Pragya Rider, Passenger Injured In Asokwa Crash

A Pragya tricycle rider and a passenger sustained serious injuries on Monday after the speeding tricycle they were travelling in somersaulted while attempting to beat a traffic light at Asokwa in the Ashanti Region.
The accident occurred near the Asokwa District Court when the tricycle, with registration number M-22-GR 1580, allegedly sped through the traffic light in the direction of the T.I. Ahmadiyya Primary School.

Two other passengers onboard escaped unhurt, while the rider and another passenger suffered deep cuts on their legs and hands.
Eyewitnesses said the tricycle landed on its back after the rider lost control during the reckless manoeuvre.
Some people who were at the court premises for various cases quickly rushed to rescue the victims trapped beneath the mangled tricycle.
A driver who was closely following the tricycle reportedly swerved onto the pavement to avoid running over the victims after the crash.
“The noise from the impact was so loud that I had to run for cover because I initially did not know what was happening,” an eyewitness at the court premises narrated.
A police officer stationed at the court, with support from some bystanders, managed to pull the injured victims from beneath the tricycle before the damaged vehicle was pushed off the road.
Parts of the tricycle, including its windscreen and seats, were scattered on the road, causing brief traffic congestion in the area.
The injured victims were later transported to a nearby hospital by another tricycle for medical treatment.
