Ejisu MCE Attacked as Tensions Erupt at Assembly

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ejisu in the Ashanti Region, Jerryne Asante, has reportedly been attacked by individuals alleged to be constituency executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The incident occurred on Monday, April 27, 2026, at the Ejisu Municipal Assembly, following an alleged warehouse break-in involving some party executives.

A viral video circulating on social media, originally shared by Akoma FM, a subsidiary of Media General, captures a heated confrontation between the alleged NDC executives and police officers inside the MCE’s office.

Also seen in the video is Madam Gloria Korshior Huze, the Ashanti Regional Coordinator of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP), who also serves as the Ashanti Regional Women’s Organiser of the NDC.

The footage shows a tense atmosphere, with voices suggesting that the group stormed the Assembly to forcibly remove the MCE from office. A broken glass table, believed to belong to Madam Asante, is also seen in the video.

“We didn’t come here to joke; pack your things,” one of the men is heard saying.

In response, the MCE condemned the actions of her alleged attackers, describing them as individuals who had made the NDC “cheap.” She further vowed to ensure those responsible face the law.

“The NDC has become cheap… you will suffer for it. Today, you have grown wings… you will suffer for it,” she warned.

Attempts to reach both the MCE and Madam Gloria Huze for comment proved unsuccessful.

However, speaking on Owia TV’s morning show monitored in Kumasi, Madam Huze denied allegations of any attack, insisting that their visit to the MCE’s office was only to caution her.

She also dismissed claims of vandalism, stating that they did not damage any property and that police officers present at the scene would not have allowed such actions.

As of the time of filing this report, the Ashanti Regional leadership of the NDC, headed by Chairman Augustus Andrews, popularly known as Nana Kwasi, had not issued any official statement on the incident.

Madam Asante previously contested the Ejisu parliamentary seat on the ticket of the NDC in the 2024 general elections before her appointment as MCE.
