Police Intervene In Fatal Bosomtwe Community Clash

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has stepped in to restore calm following a deadly clash between youth of Asisiriwa and Brodekwano in the Bosomtwe District of the Ashanti Region.
The violent incident, which occurred on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, around 11:00 a.m., left two young men dead and several properties destroyed.
According to a statement signed by the Ashanti Regional Police Public Affairs Unit, DSP Godwin Ahianyo, the Police received distress calls that some youth from Brodekwano had allegedly invaded Asisiriwa, sparking chaos between residents of the two communities.
Police officers from the Kuntanase District Command, supported by the Asokwa Divisional Command and the Regional Operations Unit, were quickly deployed to the scene to bring the situation under control.
On arrival, Police found parts of the road blocked with lorry tyres and two burnt motorbikes abandoned.
“At the outskirts of the town, two male adults, identified as Peterson Bonsu, also known as ‘Low Key,’ aged about 23, and Kwaku Opoku, aged about 25, were found dead with multiple cutlass wounds,” the statement revealed.
Their bodies have since been deposited at the Jachie-Pramso Government Hospital mortuary for preservation and autopsy.
Meanwhile, a Sprinter bus was also found completely burnt at Brodekwano.
Preliminary investigations suggest the violence was triggered by a dispute involving a young man from Asisiriwa who was allegedly cohabiting with a young lady from Brodekwano without parental consent — a situation that reportedly escalated into retaliatory attacks.
In the heat of the violence, Charles Owusu, father of the young man and owner of the burnt Sprinter bus, was attacked by angry youth at Brodekwano but was rescued by Police after taking refuge at the palace.
The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei-Akoto, together with his deputy and other senior officers, later visited both communities where they engaged chiefs, elders and youth leaders — a move that helped ease tensions.
Police say security presence has since been intensified in the area, while investigations are ongoing to track down and arrest all those involved.
Residents have been urged to remain calm and cooperate with Police as efforts continue to maintain peace in the affected communities.
