MCE Urges Vigilance Among Muslim Youth During Eid Celebrations in Obuasi

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Obuasi, Hon. Faustilove Appiah-Kannin, has advised Muslim youth in the municipality to remain alert and prioritize their safety as they celebrate Eid.

Delivering her Eid Mubarak message to Islamic communities in Obuasi, Hon. Appiah-Kannin cautioned that the excitement associated with the festivities should not lead to negligence or expose individuals to danger.

She encouraged the youth to be mindful of their environment and interactions, stressing that the occasion should deepen their faith and strengthen their relationship with Allah.

“The world is becoming increasingly unsafe, so you must be careful. Do not leave your food or drinks unattended in the care of others, even among friends,” she warned.

Calls for Prayers for National Development

The MCE also used the occasion to highlight government efforts aimed at stabilizing the economy over the past year. She conveyed greetings from the President to the Muslim community and appealed for continued prayers for the leadership of the country.

According to her, divine guidance is essential for the government to effectively steer the nation toward progress and development.

She further commended leaders of the Islamic community for their unwavering support and constructive contributions to governance in the municipality.

Cleric Appeals for More Affordable Hajj Opportunities

Meanwhile, an Islamic cleric has appealed to the government to expand access to the Hajj pilgrimage and reduce associated costs.

The cleric noted that increasing the number of available slots would enable more Muslims to fulfill their religious obligation of travelling to Mecca.

Eid Visits and Donations

As part of the Eid celebrations, the MCE and her team visited several prayer centres, including Shangala Park, OSC Cricket Park, Black Park, and AGA School Park.

At each location, donations were presented to support the Muslim community, while prayers were offered for the government, the municipality, and the nation.

Leaders of the various Islamic groups expressed gratitude to both the President and the MCE for the gesture and reaffirmed their commitment to supporting development initiatives in Obuasi.

Support During Ramadan

Earlier, the Obuasi Municipal Assembly, led by the MCE, donated assorted food items, including rice and other essential provisions, to assist Muslims during the Ramadan fasting period.

The presentation was attended by the Municipal Coordinating Director, Madam Joyce Akosua Angmorteh, and the Municipal Finance Officer, Mr Zakaria Yahaya.

Receiving the items, beneficiaries expressed appreciation to the Assembly for the timely intervention and offered prayers for national peace and progress.

The MCE’s engagements form part of ongoing efforts by the Assembly to promote unity, religious tolerance, and inclusive development across the Obuasi Municipality.
