Chief Imam Calls for Global Peace Amid Church Donation
The Chief Imam of Atwima Koforidua in the Atwima Nwabiagya North District, Sheikh Ridwan Mohammed Kudi Bawasaaba, has called for global peace, urging an end to tensions and conflicts involving countries such as Israel, the United States, and Iran.
He made the appeal during an interaction with the media at the end of Ramadan, when the Church of Pentecost, Atwima Koforidua Assembly, led by its Head Pastor, George Agyemang Boateng, together with the church elders, donated assorted items to the Muslim community.
The Chief Imam expressed profound gratitude to the Church for the gesture, describing it as timely and deeply appreciated by the Muslim community. He noted that such acts of kindness help strengthen unity and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths.
Speaking to the media, Pastor Boateng emphasized that Ghana remains a shining example of inter-religious harmony and peaceful coexistence. According to him, it is rare in many parts of the world to witness such unity between Christians and Muslims, but Ghana continues to enjoy an atmosphere of tolerance, mutual respect, and peace.
He explained that although Christians do not participate in the 30-day fasting observed by Muslims, the Church found it appropriate to support them as they conclude the holy period. As a gesture of love and solidarity, the Church donated items including soft drinks, bags of rice, and bottled water, which he described as a symbol of unity and compassion.
Also addressing the media, the Member of Parliament for the Bia East Constituency, Mustapha Mohammed, advised the youth—especially Muslim youth—to stay away from illicit drugs and other negative influences. He urged them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to building a better future.
He further stated that His Excellency John Dramani Mahama has outlined several developmental plans aimed at empowering the youth and improving their livelihoods. He reiterated the President’s vision of “resetting Ghana” and encouraged young people to take advantage of the opportunities that will be made available.
