Pragya Rider Drowns Over Alcohol Bet

A 27-year-old Pragya rider, Amankwaa Foster, popularly known as “City Boy,” has tragically drowned in Lake Bosomtwe following a swimming challenge reportedly influenced by alcohol.
The incident occurred on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Abono in the Bosomtwe District, where the deceased had gone with friends to relax.
According to a narration by one of his friends on Akoma FM, monitored by Swiftnews3, the group had gone out on their Pragya tricycles from Kuntenase to enjoy drinks before deciding to swim in the lake.
The friend revealed that Foster, who was heavily intoxicated, accepted a challenge to swim farther into the lake in a bid to win a bottle of Alomo Bitters.
Eyewitnesses say he successfully completed an initial attempt but got into distress during a second attempt. A friend who could not swim later noticed him struggling and gasping for air in the water and quickly raised an alarm.
Fisherfolk in the area rushed to assist, but unfortunately, they were unable to rescue him in time.
Foster was pulled from the water and rushed to a clinic at Abono before being transferred to a hospital in Kuntenase, where he was pronounced dead.
Tension flared at the hospital when friends of the deceased reportedly questioned why they were asked to obtain a hospital card despite his condition. The situation nearly escalated before police from Kuntenase intervened to restore calm.
Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has expressed anger at the circumstances leading to his death, particularly the swimming challenge involving alcohol.
The body has since been deposited at a morgue in Kuntenase, as police have launched investigations into the incident.
