Court Grants GHC50,000 Bail to Counsellor Lutterodt Over Controversial Remarks

The Adenta Circuit Court has granted bail in the sum of GHC50,000 with two sureties to popular Ghanaian marriage counsellor, Cyril George Carstensen Lutterodt, popularly known as Counsellor Lutterodt.
The court decision followed his appearance on Wednesday after his arrest on Monday, March 9, 2026, over comments he allegedly made during a radio discussion about the family matters of the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba.
According to reports, Counsellor Lutterodt made the remarks while speaking on Power FM during a programme last weekend. During the discussion, he allegedly urged some youth from the Ga community to storm the East Legon residence of the late musician amid rumours that he had been buried at the location.
He was quoted as calling on the youth to move to the residence with tools to search for the alleged burial site if the claims were true.
Authorities say the comments were considered provocative and capable of disturbing public order. His actions are said to contravene provisions of the Criminal Offences Act, 1960 (Act 29) and the Public Order Act, 1994 (Act 491), including offensive conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace under Section 207 of Act 29.
The case has been adjourned as investigations continue.
