Atwima Yabi Poised to Become Tourism Hub with Fofie Resort

Atwima Yabi in the Atwima Kwanwoma District is set to emerge as a new tourism and leisure destination following the commissioning of the ultra-modern Fofie Resort.

The resort, located on a scenic dam in the community, was commissioned on Sunday, February 22, 2026, by the Chief of Atwima Yabi, Kontomire Kwame Frimpong Ababio. Though not yet officially opened to the public, the event attracted hundreds of residents and visitors from nearby communities who thronged the venue to witness the milestone.
Speaking at the event, Kontomire Kwame Frimpong Ababio said the Fofie Resort is designed to create employment opportunities for the youth and indigenes of the area. He stressed that the project forms part of efforts to bring development closer to the people and reduce unemployment in the community.

According to him, the facility will generate direct and indirect jobs in areas such as hospitality, catering, event hosting, security and maintenance when fully operational. He added that local farmers, fishermen and traders will also benefit from increased business activities.
A major highlight of the resort is the installation of modern water-based recreational equipment, including BBQ Boats, yachts and other leisure machines aimed at providing visitors with a unique experience on the dam. The Chief noted that these facilities are expected to attract tourists from within and beyond the district.

He expressed confidence that once officially opened, the resort will boost tourism and contribute to revenue generation within the Atwima Kwanwoma District and the wider Ashanti Region.

Residents who attended the ceremony described the project as a major boost for Atwima Yabi, indicating that it would help stimulate small businesses and improve livelihoods.
With finishing touches underway, anticipation is mounting ahead of the official opening of the Fofie Resort, which is expected to position Atwima Yabi firmly on the tourism map.
