Atwima Kwanwoma DCE Launches ‘Atwima Kwanwoma In Focus’ Quarterly Journal

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atwima Kwanwoma, Hon. Grace Agyemang Asamoah, has officially launched a quarterly District Achievements News Journal titled “Atwima Kwanwoma In Focus”, aimed at highlighting development projects and key interventions undertaken by the Assembly.

The launch, held on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at the Conference Room of the District Assembly in Twedie, was attended by traditional leaders, opinion leaders, politicians across the political divide, assembly members, heads of departments, development partners, religious leaders and members of the media.

Addressing the gathering, Hon. Agyemang Asamoah described the publication as a documented record of the Assembly’s collective efforts and progress, stressing that it is not about celebrating an individual but a shared vision and teamwork.

“When I assumed office, I pledged to prioritize the needs of our people and to ensure that no community would be left behind. This Journal represents more than a publication—it is a documented record of how far we have come together,” she stated.

She explained that Atwima Kwanwoma In Focus, to be produced quarterly, will serve as a tool for accountability, transparency and public engagement by keeping residents informed about ongoing and completed projects.

Administration and Governance

Touching on governance, the DCE disclosed that the Assembly completed the painting of the District Administration Block and the Trede Area Council to improve the working environment and preserve the dignity of public institutions.

She added that billboards have been erected to showcase the Assembly’s services to the public to enhance transparency and access to information. Boards displaying the chronological order of past and present DCEs, Presiding Members and District Coordinating Directors were also installed to preserve the institutional history of the Assembly.

Infrastructure Development

In the area of infrastructure, several roads were reshaped to improve accessibility, including the Nwinsa–Nkwanta–Amoafo stretch, Kotwi Special Ice road, Biragokrom, Asaago and the Bekwaime–Kyekyewere road.

According to her, these interventions have enhanced movement, facilitated trade and improved access to healthcare and education. She revealed that she personally supported aspects of some urgent road projects to ensure their timely execution.

The Ampabame No. 1 Bridge was also renovated and maintained to ensure safety and the smooth movement of people and goods.

Health and Education

In the health sector, the Assembly commenced the construction of three CHPS compounds at Asaago, Nweneso No. 1 and Nweneso No. 3 to improve access to primary healthcare.

On education, the DCE noted that the compound of Afua Kobi Ampem Girls’ Senior High School was reshaped to create a conducive learning environment.

Construction of a three-unit classroom block at New Ejuampong is ongoing, while a contract has been awarded for a six-unit classroom block at Afasiebon Basic School.

Additionally, the Assembly supported Yabi D/A JHS with roofing sheets, provided doors for Aburaso D/A School and donated GH¢5,000 to Adum-Afrancho School to address urgent needs.

Sanitation, Agriculture and Water

Seven major refuse dump sites at Sabin Akrofuom, Kantinkyiren, Kyekyewere, Brofoyedru, Akyeremade, Twedie and Dida were evacuated, while skip containers were supplied to selected communities to improve waste management.

Sanitary equipment and streetlight bulbs were distributed to all 33 Electoral Areas to enhance environmental cleanliness and public safety.

On agriculture, she said the district honoured hardworking farmers during the 41st Farmers’ Day Celebration at Dida and reaffirmed the Assembly’s commitment to supporting the sector.

To improve access to potable water, 16 mechanized boreholes were constructed across various communities.

Housing and Partnerships

Hon. Agyemang Asamoah announced the commencement of the Affordable Housing Units Project at Trede by the Ministry of Works and Housing to help address housing deficits.

She also disclosed plans for the construction of an educational complex from kindergarten to university through the support of development partners from the United States, Rev. and Mrs. Close.

Awards and Recognition

The DCE noted that the district’s efforts have gained recognition beyond Ghana. She was honoured with the 4th African Public Service Optimum Awards 2025 for excellence in public service and also received recognition from IAMCCBC International Law – USA. She is also scheduled to receive the She Achievers Award in Rwanda in March 2026.

However, she emphasized that the recognitions reflect the collective efforts of the Assembly and the people of Atwima Kwanwoma.

“These recognitions are not personal achievements; they affirm that when we work together with integrity and dedication, excellence becomes inevitable,” she stated.

She expressed gratitude to the Central Government, Assembly Members, Traditional Leaders, staff, development partners and residents for their continued support.

The event climaxed with the official launch of Atwima Kwanwoma In Focus, which she described as a symbol of accountability and renewed commitment to inclusive and transparent governance.
