NPP Atwima Kwanwoma Primaries Underway Peacefully at Twedie

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primaries in the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency of the Ashanti Region are progressing peacefully at the Twedie Technical Institute.

The campaign coordinator for one of the aspirants, Nana Opoku Karikari Okogyedom, has commended the Electoral Commission (EC) for the smooth conduct of the exercise. Nana Opoku Karikari, who is also the Otumfuo Topreman Kontihene, praised the District Electoral Commissioner, Ms. Elizabeth Ohene, and her team for ensuring order and transparency at the polling centre.

He appealed to party delegates to maintain the calm atmosphere throughout the process, stressing the need for unity after the internal contest.

“The peace we have seen so far must continue so that the party remains united after the primaries,” he said.

However, Nana Opoku Karikari raised concerns over the conduct of some constituency executives, alleging that they had entered restricted areas within the inner security perimeter. He stated that the issue had been reported to both the police and the EC, calling for immediate action to prevent any breach of the rules.

The NPP primaries form part of the party’s internal electoral process to select presisential candidate ahead of the 2028 general elections. Delegates in the constituency are voting to choose a candidate to lead the party in the next presidential race.

Security personnel have been deployed to the centre to maintain law and order, while EC officials continue to supervise the process. As of the time of reporting, voting was ongoing without any major incidents.
