Unidentified Young Man Found Dead in Aboabo Drain
An unidentified young man believed to be in his 20s has been found dead in a drain at Aboabo in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The lifeless body was discovered on Friday, January 30, 2026. The deceased was found naked, triggering fear and concern among residents of the area.
The Unit Committee Member for the Aboabo Extension Electoral Area, Sumaila Dauda, told newsnen that the condition of the body suggested the young man may have been lynched before being dumped into the drain. He said he rushed to the scene after receiving information about the incident and suspected the victim had been assaulted.
Hon. Sumaila expressed worry over the incident, noting that similar cases had occurred in the area in the past. He called on the police and other relevant authorities to put in place measures to prevent mob justice and ensure improved security in the community.
The police have since conveyed the body to the morgue for preservation and autopsy, while investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the death and identify those responsible.
