Ashanti Region Records 36,626 Delegates for NPP Flagbearer Vote at 47 Centres

A total of 36,626 delegates are expected to vote in the Ashanti Region as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) holds its flagbearer election on Saturday, January 31.
The figure represents 17.29 per cent of the 211,849 delegates nationwide. Ashanti is the second-largest voting bloc, coming after the Greater Accra Region, and is expected to play a key role in determining the outcome of the race.
Voting will take place at 47 designated centres across the region, starting at 7:00 a.m. and ending at 2:00 p.m.
The contest is being keenly fought among former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, former Assin Central MP Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, former Minister for Agriculture, Dr. Bryan Acheampong, former Minister for Education, Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and a former General Secretary of the NPP, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong.
Speaking to Swiftnews3, some delegates described the race as highly competitive, noting that aspirants have intensified campaign activities in the region due to its significant delegate strength.
Delegates said their decisions will be influenced by issues such as party unity, leadership credibility, and the ability of the next flagbearer to lead the NPP to victory in the next general election.
NPP officials say arrangements have been put in place to ensure a peaceful, transparent and credible process, with security personnel and electoral officers deployed to all voting centres.
The Ashanti Regional leadership of the NPP has urged delegates to remain peaceful and adhere strictly to party rules before, during and after the election.
Results from the Ashanti Region are expected to have a major impact on the final outcome of the NPP flagbearer race.
