Ashanti Police Nab Four in Kunsu Armed Robbery Case

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery gang believed to have been behind a series of violent attacks at Kunsu and surrounding communities in the Ashanti Region.
The suspects—Yahyah Seidu, alias Diamond (24), Atta Esrael, also known as Stone (32), Victor Gyan, alias City Boy (26), and Stanley Wiafe Akenten, popularly called Figo (30)—are currently in police custody assisting with investigations.
Addressing the media at a press briefing on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Osei Akoto Arthur, said the arrests followed sustained intelligence-led operations by the command.
He disclosed that items retrieved from the suspects include two pump-action guns, 22 BB cartridges, five mobile phones—one of which belongs to a complainant—and an amount of GH¢5,400 in cash.
According to DCOP Arthur, investigations revealed that the suspects, together with two accomplices who are currently on the run, attacked a mining site at Kunsu on December 7, 2025. During the operation, the gang allegedly assaulted one Kingsley Asare and made away with gold, cash, and mobile phones.
“They carried out this robbery at a mining site and stole gold valued at hundreds of cedis, in addition to cash and phones,” he stated.
DCOP Arthur further revealed that the suspects admitted their involvement during interrogation and would soon be arraigned before court to face the full rigours of the law.
He assured residents of Kunsu and the wider Ashanti Region of the police command’s commitment to ensuring maximum security, adding that efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining suspects still at large.
