Manfo–Subriso Road Woes: Residents Demand Immediate Government Action

Residents of Subriso and adjoining enclave communities in the Ahafo Ano North Municipal of the Ashanti Region have renewed calls on government to urgently rehabilitate the deteriorating Manfo–Subriso road, describing its current state as unbearable.
The road, a key route linking several farming communities, has become riddled with potholes and dusty patches, creating daily difficulties for commuters and motorists. Drivers often experience frequent breakdowns, while travellers endure long delays along the stretch.
“We are tired of the dust, pushing broken-down vehicles and suffering endless delays. This road is killing our businesses,” a frustrated resident told Swiftnews3 Online.
Conditions worsen during the rainy season when sections of the road become flooded and nearly impassable. This has disrupted the movement of goods and services, with farmers bearing the brunt as they struggle to transport produce to market, leading to significant post-harvest losses.
The poor road network has also affected social services in the area. Students reportedly miss school regularly due to transportation challenges, while access to healthcare has been compromised as vehicles find it difficult to reach the communities in times of need.
Residents say they have made several appeals to authorities over the years, but little has been done to address the problem. They fear the situation will continue to deteriorate if urgent steps are not taken.
The affected communities are therefore calling on government and relevant agencies to act swiftly to rehabilitate the Manfo–Subriso road and ease the hardship faced by residents and road users.
