“Decongest Bibiani Newtown Now!” – Nana Ackaah Charges New Chief

Nana Ackaah Osuaman III, Divisional Chief and Abusuapanin of the Anhwiaso Traditional Area, has urged the newly installed chief of Bibiani Newtown to take urgent steps to decongest the township, describing the current situation as alarming and unsustainable.

According to Nana Ackaah, Bibiani Newtown has become heavily choked, creating serious challenges for commuters and residents, including teachers, traders, business people, miners and other road users. He cautioned that failure to act swiftly could allow the problem to escalate into an unprecedented crisis.

The respected traditional ruler made the appeal during the coronation ceremony of the new Bibiani Newtown Chief, Nana Abu Gyabeng, known in private life as Koo Gyabeng.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Ackaah stressed the need for unity and collective support for the new chief, urging stakeholders to offer useful suggestions and constructive criticism to help drive development. He advised Nana Gyabeng to shun hearsay and instead rely on evidence-based reports and due process in the discharge of his duties.

He further admonished the youth of Bibiani Newtown to stay away from criminal activities such as robbery, illicit drug use and juvenile delinquency, noting that peace and discipline are key to development.

Nana Abu Gyabeng, a businessman, is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Koohan Hotel in Bibiani and an agent for a private lotto known as “God’s Way Lotto.” He is the son of the late Mr. Owusu, an indigene of Bibiani Newtown.

Beyond his business ventures, Nana Gyabeng is also well established in the construction industry, having put up several market stalls and storey buildings at Nzema Nkwanta, Hwenampori and Bibiani Newtown.

In his acceptance speech, Nana Gyabeng pledged his unflinching support to fellow chiefs, the youth and the entire Bibiani township. He assured residents that his reign would be marked by development projects, youth employment initiatives, and the strict enforcement of law and order within his jurisdiction.

The ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Nana Ebiri Kwaku, Chief of Hwenampori; Nana Dwantoa; Gyasi NewLove Abusuapanin; Paa Kwesi Kwagyir, Assembly Member; and a number of queen mothers.
