Anyinamso D/A School Old Students Launch ‘Grace Danso Awards,’ Fund Sanitation Project to Boost Academic Excellence

The 1992 year group of Anyinamso D/A School has officially launched an academic award scheme dubbed the “Grace Danso Awards,” in honour of their former headmistress, Madam Grace Danso, whose leadership and motherly care left a lasting impact on generations of students.

The initiative, which aims to promote and sustain academic excellence, is expected to be held annually to motivate pupils to take their studies seriously and strive for higher achievement.
Speaking at the launch on behalf of the year group, the coordinator, Saeed Seidu, popularly known as Askia, explained that the awards are designed to recognise hardworking students and inspire others to emulate them.

“We want to encourage students who perform well academically to push even harder. This award scheme will be organised every year to serve as a strong motivation for learners,” he stated.
Commitment Beyond Awards
Beyond recognising academic excellence, the 1992 batch also demonstrated a strong commitment to the infrastructural development of their alma mater. Mr. Seidu revealed that the group has mobilised funds for the construction of modern toilet and urinal facilities to help resolve long-standing sanitation challenges at the school.

He noted that the project is particularly important as Anyinamso D/A School prepares to be designated as a Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) centre, a development that requires improved facilities to meet examination standards.
Mr. Seidu therefore appealed to other old students, philanthropists, and stakeholders to support the school’s development agenda, stressing that collective effort is key to improving the learning environment.

Honouring a Legendary Educator
Paying glowing tribute to Madam Grace Danso, the former headmistress after whom the awards are named, Mr. Seidu described her as a rare educator whose discipline, passion, and love shaped the lives of her students.

“I will always choose Madam Grace Danso as the best teacher in the world. She trained and cared for us with so much love, just like her own children. Today, we are living testimonies of the discipline and values she instilled in us,” he said.
He further urged the current teaching staff to emulate her dedication and selfless service, noting that genuine commitment to students would always yield lasting rewards.

School Still Faces Challenges
The current Headmaster of Anyinamso D/A School, Emmanuel Sey, expressed deep appreciation to the 1992 year group, describing their support as exemplary and worthy of emulation by other alumni.
Despite welcoming the sanitation project as a major relief, Mr. Sey disclosed that the school continues to face serious challenges, particularly the shortage of classroom blocks, which affects effective teaching and learning and limits the school’s capacity.

Traditional Authority Applauds Initiative
The Chief of Anyinamso, Nana Ogyam Karikari, who graced the occasion, commended the 1992 year group for their show of gratitude and loyalty to their roots.

He described the initiative as a noble act, noting that honouring those who contributed to one’s success brings blessings not only to individuals but also to the entire community and the school.
The launch of the Grace Danso Awards and the accompanying infrastructural support have been hailed as a timely intervention that promises to uplift academic standards and improve conditions at Anyinamso D/A School.
