Kotoko Thrash Bechem United 6-0 to Go Top of GPL Table

Asante Kotoko delivered a ruthless performance to hammer Bechem United 6-0 in a Ghana Premier League encounter played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The Porcupine Warriors opened the scoring in the 23rd minute through Guinean import Morifing Donzo, who finished calmly after a period of sustained pressure from the home side.
Kotoko doubled their advantage following a well-taken corner kick. A powerful header from captain Samba OโNeil Ndongani forced Bechem United defender Ampiah Emmanuel into scoring an unfortunate own goal in the 24th minute.
Donzo was again on target to register his brace after expertly beating the offside trap, rounding the helpless goalkeeper, and slotting the ball into an empty net to make it 3-0 before halftime.
Bechem United, popularly known as the Hunters, pushed for a consolation goal before the break, but several of their attempts struck the goalpost, denying them any breakthrough. Kotoko ended the first half with a comfortable three-goal cushion.
At the start of the second half, Bechem United introduced four new players in an attempt to strengthen their defence and midfield. However, it was Kotoko who continued to dominate proceedings.
The home side scored their fourth goal through Hubert Gyau, further extending their lead. Substitute Johnson Owusu made an immediate impact five minutes after replacing Morifing Donzo, finding the back of the net in the 65th minute to make it 5-0.
Experienced striker Kwame Opoku capped off the emphatic victory by scoring the sixth and final goal after coming on as a substitute, sending the Baba Yara Stadium faithful into wild celebrations.
The convincing win propels Asante Kotoko to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table with 30 points, having played one game more than second-placed Medeama SC, who also have 30 points but trail Kotoko on goal difference.
The home supporters had plenty to cheer about as the final whistle brought an end to a dominant display by the Kumasi giants.
