CSU Installs Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Kwaku Asante as First Chancellor

Christian Service University (CSU) has formally installed Most Rev. Prof. Emmanuel Kwaku Asante as its first Chancellor, a landmark event that underscores the University’s transition into a fully chartered tertiary institution.

The investiture ceremony, held on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, drew a cross-section of university officials, clergy, academics, students, alumni, and invited guests from across the country.

In his inaugural address, Most Rev. Prof. Asante described his appointment as a solemn trust and pledged to support the University’s vision of academic excellence, Christian leadership, and service to society.

“This honour comes with a deep sense of responsibility and a renewed commitment to the mission and values upon which Christian Service University was founded,” he said.

He acknowledged the founders, missionaries, and partners whose sacrifices laid the groundwork for CSU’s development, paying special tribute to the West Africa Evangelical Church (WEC) missionaries and their Ghanaian counterparts who nurtured the institution from its formative years.

The Chancellor highlighted the invaluable contributions of early pioneers and institutional leaders, noting that their collaborative efforts sustained the University through its growth from a college into a chartered university. He expressed appreciation to past Council Chairmen, Presidents, and management members for their foresight and dedication.

Most Rev. Prof. Asante singled out the immediate past President and first Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Sam Kofi Afranie, and the immediate past Council Chairman, Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso, for their leadership in steering the University to charter status. He also acknowledged former Council Chairman Mr. Sarfo for his role in strengthening governance structures.

He further recognised the mentorship and academic support received from the University of Ghana, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), and the University of Cape Coast, describing them as strategic partners in CSU’s academic advancement.

Addressing faculty, staff, and students, the Chancellor commended their dedication and called for unity, innovation, and shared responsibility, stressing that sustainable growth depends on collaboration and adherence to strong ethical and academic standards.

Reaffirming the University’s mandate, he noted that Christian Service University remains committed to producing graduates of integrity, professional competence, and Christian character, equipped to serve both church and society.

“Our goal is to nurture leaders who combine intellectual rigour with moral conviction and a spirit of service,” he added.

The ceremony marked a defining chapter in CSU’s history, signalling renewed commitment to its Christian values, academic excellence, and national relevance.
