Obuasi: Six Perish in Gory Night Crash
At least six people have lost their lives, while several others sustained various degrees of injuries, in a devastating collision between a Hyundai Urvan and a trailer on the Obuasi–Kyekyewere road in the Obuasi Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
The deadly crash occurred around 8:30 pm on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
Eyewitnesses told SWIFTNEWS3 ONLINE that the trailer, which was descending toward Aboagye Motors near the Obuasi Court Junction, suddenly veered off its lane after the driver reportedly lost control. The speeding truck slammed into an oncoming Hyundai Urvan, killing six passengers on the spot and leaving many others seriously injured.
The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Obuasi Government Hospital morgue, while the injured are receiving emergency treatment at the same facility.
Police have commenced investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash, with officers hinting that brake failure and overspeeding are possible factors.
The tragic incident has reignited concerns about increasing night-time crashes on major roads within the Obuasi municipality.
