Obuasi MCE Pledges Stronger Support for Education at OSTECH’s 60th Anniversary
The Municipal Chief Executive for Obuasi, Hon. Faustilove Appiah Kannin, has reiterated the Assembly’s dedication to strengthening educational infrastructure and widening learning opportunities across the Municipality.
Addressing staff, students and stakeholders during the 60th Anniversary celebration of Obuasi Senior High Technical School (OSTECH), the MCE emphasized that education remains a central pillar of the Assembly’s development agenda.
“Education is at the heart of our developmental vision,” she said. “We will continue to support institutions like Obuasi Senior High Technical School with infrastructure, policies and initiatives that create opportunities for every young person to thrive.”
CELEBRATING A SCHOOL WITH SIX DECADES OF IMPACT
Hon. Appiah Kannin lauded OSTECH for its consistent growth and contribution to education in Obuasi over the past 60 years, describing the school as a beacon of innovation and academic excellence.
She highlighted major achievements, including the establishment of a state-of-the-art Robotics lCentre funded by AngloGold Ashanti. The modern facility, she noted, positions OSTECH at the forefront of STEM education by equipping students with hands-on skills in robotics, artificial intelligence and problem-solving—competencies crucial for the evolving global economy.
PREPARING STUDENTS FOR A CHANGING WORLD
The MCE encouraged students to make the most of the opportunities the school provides.
“The world is changing rapidly—with AI, robotics, green energy and space technology,” she said. “OSTECH has been positioned at the centre of that change. This is your moment. Work hard, dream boldly and remember that great institutions are built through the character and achievements of their young people.”
She urged the school community to honour its proud past while shaping a future defined by confidence, innovation and global competitiveness.
A COLOURFUL 60TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
The event drew together old students, staff, parents, and dignitaries who commended the school’s progress and called for continued excellence.
The anniversary was held on the theme:
“60 Years of Transformative Education: Honouring Our Proud Past; Shaping Our Proud Future.”
It was a vibrant, memorable celebration of a school whose legacy continues to shine brightly in Obuasi.
