3 Dead, 30 Injured in Mampong Abuontem Crash

A fatal road crash at Mampong Abuontem on Thursday, December 4, 2025, has claimed three lives and left 30 others injured.
According to a statement posted on Facebook by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Mampong Fire Station received a distress call at 5:38 p.m., prompting an immediate response led by LFM Emmanuel Kwami. By the time the crew arrived at the scene, all injured personsโcomprising 26 students, three staff members, and the driver of a Toyota Coaster minibusโhad already been transported to the Mampong Government Hospital by ambulance.
GNFS further reported that two more occupants of the Opel Astra involved in the crash were later confirmed dead after rescue efforts. The driver of the Astra was extricated from the badly mangled vehicle, already deceased, and handed over to the Police.
The collision occurred between a Toyota Coaster minibus (GV 1720-20) belonging to the Ejura Agric College and an Opel Astra (AS 3838 W), which sustained extensive damage and was completely crushed. The minibus also suffered significant damage to its windscreen, front bumper, and fenders.
Hospital authorities confirmed that 26 of the injured victims have since been treated and discharged, while four remain in critical condition receiving treatment at the Mampong Government Hospital.
Emergency teams later cleared the wreckage from the road to restore the smooth flow of traffic in the area.
Authorities are urging motorists to strictly observe road safety regulations, avoid overtaking on curves, and ensure regular vehicle maintenance to help prevent such avoidable tragedies.
