Ogyeahoho urges The Youth to Prioritise Education in Pursuit of Their Goals

The President of the National House of Chiefs, Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, has urged the youth of Ghana to prioritise education above all else.

Speaking at a colourful ceremony at Bibiani Senior High Technical School in the Western North Region, Ogyeahoho expressed his profound gratitude to the entire municipality and the nation for their active participation and support during the celebration of the Eluo Festival. He underscored the vital role education plays in the 21st century, describing it as the most reliable tool for achieving success and contributing meaningfully to national development. He stressed that education remains the key that unlocks opportunities for success and personal growth in today’s competitive world.

The traditional leader made these remarks during the launch of a legacy project initiated by the 1992 year group of Bibiani Senior High Technical School Old Students—an e-learning facility intended to serve both the school and the entire municipality. He commended the leaders of the group for their initiative and urged them to work diligently to ensure the successful completion of the project. Ogyeahoho also made both cash and material donations toward the initiative.

Speaking specifically about the Anhwiaso Traditional Area, Ogyeahoho lamented the limited land size, noting that large portions have been taken over by four large-scale mining companies—Asante Gold Bibiani Ltd, Asante Gold Chirano Ltd, Awaso Bauxite Company Ltd, and Koantwi Mines at Anhwiaso East/South.

He further revealed that Rainforest Builders, a company tasked with restoring degraded forest lands in the municipality, has begun operations, making it difficult for residents to access certain portions of land previously used for farming. “These, coupled with the effects of climate change, present major challenges to farming in my area,” he stated.
Against this backdrop, the Paramount Chief of the Anhwiaso Traditional Area encouraged young people to take their studies seriously, reminding them that not everyone is privileged to access formal education. He emphasised the need to prioritise ICT, Science, and Mathematics, as modern education is heavily driven by technology. He also highlighted the establishment of the Ogyeahoho Education Foundation, which supports brilliant but needy students.

Parents were equally advised to prioritise their children’s education, as it remains the best investment and legacy they can offer.
The programme was attended by the MCE for Bibiani-Anhwiaso-Bekwai, the CEO of Divine Anchor, the CEO of Divine Lodge, the Board Chairman of the school, the Headmaster of Bibiani Senior High Technical School, staff of the school, PTA executives, Nana Bonyah III, and executives of the 1992 year group, underscoring the significance of the event.
