Islamic SHS Student Dies After Falling from School Building
A Form Three student of Islamic Senior High School in Kumasi, identified as Abass, has died after falling from the top floor of the school’s administration block on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.
The deceased, who was serving as the acting Boys’ Prefect, reportedly fell from the multi-storey building after showing signs of distress. His body has since been buried in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Sources within the school revealed that Abass had been struggling with suicidal thoughts for some time, although the school administration was reportedly unaware of any such intentions.
According to reports, Abass, a Business student and acting Boys’ Prefect, fell during school hours, attracting the attention of both students and staff who rushed to his aid. He was immediately transported to Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.
Family members, including his mother and uncle, as well as some students, disclosed that Abass had previously made comments about harming himself. However, these remarks were reportedly dismissed as jokes and not taken seriously.
