Peace Returns to Daddy Lumba’s Family After Manhyia Palace Intervention

Calm has finally been restored to the family of the late highlife legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, affectionately known as Daddy Lumba, following the intervention of the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, in a bitter family dispute over his funeral arrangements.
The case, which was brought before the Manhyia Palace after Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, sister of the late musician, invoked the Great Oath (Ntam Kɛseɛ) against her family head, Kofi Owusu, has ended with the Asantehene granting clemency to the family.
The traditional court, after weeks of hearings, has directed the formation of a new funeral planning committee, chaired by Dadiesoaba, to oversee all burial matters and ensure a peaceful and dignified ceremony.
A new date, December 13, 2025, has also been set for the final funeral rites of the iconic musician, whose death in September sparked nationwide grief and, later, internal tensions within his family.
As part of the resolutions, Nananom approved Akosua Brempomaa’s request for a post-mortem examination to determine the cause of death, following claims of possible foul play.
However, the council advised that any issues regarding the recognition or involvement of a supposed wife of the deceased should be handled in court, rather than through traditional means.
The ruling by Manhyia is seen as a major step toward unity within the family, which had been deeply divided
