Daddy Lumba Family Drama Reaches Manhyia Palace

The family of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, on Monday, November 3, 2025, appeared before the Asantehene at the Manhyia Palace following a dispute over his funeral arrangements.

The disagreement began after the musician’s sister, Akosua Brempomaa, invoked the Sacred Oath (Ntamkese) to halt all funeral preparations, calling for a thorough investigation into the cause of her brother’s death.

The matter was held behind closed doors before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the Saamanhene, and other prominent chiefs of the Asanteman Traditional Council.

After the meeting, Akosua Brempomaa told journalists that the chiefs had instructed both sides of the family to settle their differences amicably and report back to the Palace on Friday.

“We have been asked by the chiefs to resolve the issue in a peaceful way and bring the outcome on Friday. We are all open to dialogue,” she said.

The family head, Kofi Owusu, declined to comment, describing the issue as sensitive and still under traditional consideration.

A source close to the Palace revealed that the procedures for the Otumfuo Ntamkese would be determined after the family presents its final position.

As custom demands, the funeral of the beloved music icon remains suspended until a final decision is taken by the Manhyia Palace on the oath.

The case will be revisited on Friday for a concrete ruling.
