Two Nabbed in Adumasa Market Robbery; One on the Run

Two suspects are in police custody following a daring armed robbery attack at the Adumasa market on Monday night, October 20, 2025.

The incident, which left six people injured, saw the robbers fleeing with an undisclosed quantity of gold and cash belonging to a gold merchant.

According to the District Police Commander, Superintendent Teddy Brown, police received a distress call around 7:30 p.m. from a resident of Bomfa reporting an ongoing robbery. A joint team comprising officers from the Konongo Divisional Taskforce, Formed Police Unit (FPU), and the District Patrol Team, led by Supt. Brown and ASP L. J. Kanton, swiftly responded to the call.

Preliminary investigations revealed that three armed men, riding on a motorbike and wielding firearms — including an M47M16A2E assault rifle — attacked 35-year-old Ebenezer Boampong Adubofour, a gold dealer at the market, demanding his valuables.

During the raid, the robbers fired several gunshots indiscriminately, injuring six people before escaping. The swift reaction of some residents forced the assailants to abandon an assault rifle, four live rounds of ammunition, and a motorbike, which was later found burnt.

Police operations later led to the arrest of two of the suspects, while the third accomplice managed to flee and is currently being pursued.

The injured victims were sent to the SDA Hospital at Nobewam and the Konongo Government Hospital, where they are said to be responding to treatment.

Superintendent Brown assured residents that police are intensifying efforts to track down the remaining suspect and urged the public to remain calm and cooperate with investigators.
