Shock at Bantama as Barber Found Dead — One Arrested

Residents of Bantama in Kumasi are reeling from shock after the lifeless body of a 30-year-old barber was discovered near the Bantama Market on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

The victim, whose name has not yet been released, was reportedly known to frequent the market and lorry station, where he sometimes spent the night.

According to eyewitness accounts, the deceased was well known in the community. Felix Kwabena Ansah, a resident who identified him as a local barber, said the discovery came as a huge shock.

“He’s a barber, but he doesn’t have a permanent place to sleep — sometimes he’s here at the market, other times at the lorry station. When I returned from an errand this morning, my boss told me the guy had died. When I went there, I saw blood on the ground, so it looked like someone had hit him with something,” Mr. Ansah narrated.

The police have since launched an investigation into the suspected murder and confirmed that one person has been arrested to assist with inquiries.

The body of the deceased has been taken to the morgue for preservation and autopsy as part of the ongoing investigation.

Residents have described the incident as disturbing and have called for increased security presence in the area to avert similar tragedies.
