Victory Congregation Marks 40th Anniversary in Grand Style

The Victory Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana at Compound, Dunkwa-On-Offin, in the Upper Denkyira East District of the Central Region, has marked its 40th anniversary under the theme: “Celebrating Our Heritage: Persisting in Mission, 1 Corinthians 15:58; A Tapestry of Praise: Weaving 40 Years Together.”

The four-day programme, which brought together members, clergy, and dignitaries, was climaxed with a colourful Thanksgiving Service last Sunday.

As part of the celebration, the church honoured Dr. Victor Gadri, a senior Presbyterian, philanthropist, and benefactor of the congregation, for his distinguished service, exemplary leadership, and immense contribution to the advancement of the church.

In his sermon, Rev. Ernest Pipim, Minister-in-Charge, expressed gratitude to God for guiding the congregation over the past four decades. He urged members, particularly the youth, to remain steadfast in the Christian faith and avoid social vices such as drug abuse and the pursuit of “quick money,” which he cautioned often leads to destruction.

“The youth nowadays tend to be interested in the product, not the process, and that is dangerous,” he noted. He emphasized that the ultimate mission of the church is to win more souls for Christ to ensure eternal life.

The Member of Parliament for Upper Denkyira East, Hon. Emelia Ankomah, Esq., who graced the event, called on believers to put aside political differences and continually intercede for the nation’s leaders to be guided by divine wisdom for national development.

Dr. Gadri, in his response, expressed appreciation to the congregation for the honour bestowed on him. He encouraged the youth to actively participate in church activities and urged ministers of the gospel to intensify their evangelism efforts.

He further appealed to relevant authorities to clamp down on pastors who spread falsehood on the airwaves, stressing that such practices undermine the credibility of the Christian faith.

The anniversary was marked with a tapestry of praise, reflection, and renewed commitment to the church’s mission of soul-winning.
