VIDEOS: Suspected Witch Rescued From Avocado Tree

Residents of Afaseibon in the Atwima Kwanwoma District of the Ashanti Region woke up to a bizarre spectacle on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, when a woman believed to be in her late 50s was discovered stranded on top of an avocado tree in the community.
Eyewitnesses said the incident occurred around 2:00 a.m. after strange cries, initially thought to be from a wild bird, drew the attention of residents. To their surprise, they found the woman perched on the tree, unable to descend.
The Assembly Member for the area, Emmanuel Amisaah, confirmed the incident, noting that the spectacle attracted hundreds of curious residents. “Eyewitnesses told me that dogs in the area gathered under the tree barking, which drew people to the scene where they saw the woman,” he recounted.
Personnel from the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) were called in to rescue the shivering woman using a ladder and rope. “Even the residents were afraid to go near her until the fire officers intervened,” Mr. Amisaah added.
According to reports, the woman was unable to speak when GNFS officers tried to engage her in conversation after the rescue. She, however, managed to communicate using gestures and signs with her hands and head.
She appeared weak and exhausted. Her identity and place of residence were not immediately known at the time of filing this report.
Traditional authorities later performed rituals at the site before the woman was taken away by police for further investigations.
