21-Year-Old Man Arrested for Allegedly Killing Father at Dicksonkrom

Residents of Dicksonkrom, a farming community near Ofoase in the Asante Akyem South Municipality, have been left in shock after a 21-year-old man allegedly murdered his father on a farm.

The suspect, identified as Louis, reportedly attacked his father, Bartholomew, with a machete on Monday, September 8, 2025, following a family misunderstanding.

According to community sources, the deceased had repeatedly expressed worry over his son’s indiscipline and had threatened to disown him if he failed to change his ways. Matters are said to have escalated when the deceased warned the suspect about his future inheritance, a development that allegedly angered him.

Eyewitnesses told this paper that the suspect trailed his father to the farm that morning and engaged him in a heated exchange. Before nearby farmers could rush to the scene to restore calm, Louis had allegedly slashed his father to death with a sharpened machete.

The young man was overpowered by farmers and handed over to the Ofoase Police. Due to threats of mob justice, he was later transferred to the Juaso Police Station, where he is currently in custody.

Police sources at Juaso have confirmed that the suspect will soon be put before court to face prosecution.

The gruesome act has unsettled the entire Dicksonkrom community, with residents calling on the authorities to ensure justice is delivered.
