Bomeng Chief Urges Queenmothers to Champion Fight Against Teenage Pregnancy, Drug Abuse

The Chief of Bomeng in the Sekyere Kumawu District of the Ashanti Region, Nana Kwarteng Agyakumhene II, has called on queenmothers to play a pivotal role in the fight against teenage pregnancy and drug abuse, particularly among young girls in their communities.

He made the call during a colourful ceremony at the Bomeng Palace, where two new sub-queen mothers were sworn into office. Nana Abenaa Nantakyiwaa was installed as Bomenhemaa Kontire Obaapanin, while Nana Abenaa Akyamaa was sworn in as Bomenhemaa Gyaase Obaapanin.

Addressing the gathering, Nana Kwarteng Agyakumhene II admonished the new queenmothers not to use their positions to lord over their people but to serve with humility.

He stressed that the influence of queenmothers is vital in shaping the moral lives of the youth, hence the need to actively champion causes that protect and empower them.

The Queenmother of Bomeng, Nana Yaa Akyiaa I, also charged the newly sworn-in leaders to be loyal to the Chief, elders, and people of Bomeng in the discharge of their duties.

In their acceptance speech, Nana Abenaa Nantakyiwaa and Nana Abenaa Akyamaa expressed gratitude for the honour bestowed upon them and pledged to serve their elders and subjects with integrity and honesty.
